It is rare for us to see a piston go bad before the rod "makes a window" . The 2V is just the opposite. They always crack / break the top ring land. That is why you rarely see broken rods in the 2V...pistons let go first.

i dont where you got that info but every 2v motor that i know of that blew/let go including my own was due to crappy rods. mine blew holes in the block big enough that i could stick my hole hand inside .

It is based off of the 2Vs we have had in the shop. I am not saying that the 2V won't snap rods, but in are hands on cases, it's the piston/s that go. These are also engines making around 400-450rwhp. Not 500 +.

if a piston goes its ussually because of detonation... rods are what breaks...
