Default Freon line busted

after driving home for 30 min I went inside and cooked dinner about 20 min later. I took my food back to my room and smelt something from the garage. It was all steamy and smelled horrible. One of the high pressure lines busted the one that runs right along the bottom of the passenger valve cover. It looks like its half rubber then turns into a braided hose.

I dont use my AC much, or at all really I enjoy driving with the windows down. Should I tape up the hose or just leave it like it is I dont plan on fixing it untill around june or july. but how much would It cost to fix I know freon and labor isnt cheap. around 300-400 bucks mabey?

I was even considering a AC delete but I plan on selling the car down the road so im not going to do that.

Make sure you Unlpug the connector going to the ac compressor if you are not going to repair the ac system. Because the defroster still uses the ac compressor and if there is no freon or oil in the ac system it will burn up the compressor.

you dont have to unplug the compresser. It wouldn't turn on becuase the pressure is to low in the system to work. But you should have it replaced as soon as you can to make sure the desecant bag in the reciever dryer doesnt go bad and damage anything else. What the bag does is absorb moisture in the system and since the system is open now it will absorb moisture from the outside air . and after a while it will eventually break and the loose material will clog and damage more parts. atleast replace the line for now to seal the system and save the headache of replacing more parts later.

That happen to me too, only after the dealer put in a new compressor, and the ac still not working they saw the hose was burnt. Then they fixed it right. Thank god the warranty paid for it.
