The only thing opening up a hole in your hood does for you is give water an easier route, and give trash and dirt a clear shot to your motor.

Lulz, I've yet to find trash in my engine bay

Would be interesting to open the hood one day and see a bag of garbage sitting on my intake manifold.

Do you know why that is? .. air doesnt even really go into that scoop. Not only is it not functional, the aerodynamics of a mustang are horrible and even it if was functional, the way they made the car air goes over it, not in it.

When I say trash I am talking about jackholes that see you cut a hole in your hood and use it for a dumpster lol.

Unless you have the scoops at the front edge of the hood then you will get absolutely squat for 'ram air' effect. The best thing you could do with that hood is leave it alone but if you have a hard-on to do something with it then use the holes as heat extractors.

I don't know what's up with people lately. Maybe it's spring boredom.

Yeah.... I kinda went over that in my post on the second page... Lol, where the hell do you live? People putting trash in your car I've never even heard of someone doing that.

So I opened it up, and the MOST it does is keep my upper plenum cool, which probably amounts to 0.dick horsepower gain. Not worth it unless you're just looking for **** to do.
Hood scoops(or any scoops for that matter) never REALLY work, unless the car is designed to make them work, or if you have an intake connected directly to it. Best case scenario you get a dirtier engine bay, and a little air that slips into the scoop, and of course having more drag from having something sticking off your car. But yes, on a stock GT scoop, air does infact go into the scoop, just not much; and certainly not enough to do dick for anything.

I have my scoop cut open and it does work very well as a cooling effect. My fuel system gets very hot and pressure starts to drop when I had the hole covered. Since I uncovered it again the rails stay very cool and I have no problem with my fuel getting hot. My engine never gets dirty or wet.

ok so the mach 3 hood might not be a the most attractive to some, but its your car and if you like it, by all means do it, untill they start paying for the stuff on your car, who cares what they like. good luck with the ram air.
