update: I got the blower off.. it seemed to be almost heat molded to the cylinder heads. A quick pry job got it off with no damage to the s/c. I sent it back to KB for a clean up and possibly a warranty claim. I'll probably pull my engine within two weeks.. all I have left is to unbolt the headers, power steering, transmission, and a/c... everything else is all set. After my exams are over, I'm going full steam ahead on this thing!

edit: poll:

should I buy a stock 2V for around $350, swap it, and sell my car? then after sale, buy a mach 1 or cobra?

or

should I go with a forged stroker, but risk needing to replace my tranny in the near future, as well as the rear end? I'm also emotionally attached to this car too.. so it's a tough call!

well your not going to get "THAT" much for your GT, and all you are going to do by buying a Mach 1 or cobra is spend even MORE money. I would take a step back for a second and assess your financial situation before you do ANYTHING.

If you but a forged motor in with that blower you will be already exceeding stock mach 1 and possibly cobra #'s anyways. I would personally forge the motor and go from there. If you have a lot invested in that car no need to waste it now...

coming from a mach owner, get the stroker. Mach's are beast, no doubt but our bottom ends suck more than the 2v's when it comes to FI ( 10.1 compression ftw)My friends KB mach pulls hard as hell 481 on 9lbs.. and i sold my GT that i was emotionally attached to and kick myself every day for it. plus the 4v is exspensive to mod, but i love mine

What would you do with your blower if you bought a mach or cobra? It wont bolt up to those cars. I wouldn't bother with either of these options. You already have the capability to blow your transmission and rear end with a non stroked shortblock. And you wont be blowing that rear end unless your hooking pretty hard. Buy an MMR 600 and turn the boost up to 14. With your bolt ons and exhaust you should see 500RWHP no problems. 500RWHP is very achievable on a KB 2-valve. When are you ever really gonna use more than 500RWHP on the street? Going with a stroker kit costs extra unnecessary money. Save that extra money to build your suspension or transmission. All my opinion of course.

We have a support group for this now.

yeah.. well I figured a way where it would be almost equal financially, but obviously my current car with a forged setup would be faster than a stocker.

question: the MMR 900 4.6 2V is the same price as the MMR 5.4 2V. They sell intake manifold adapters so a 4.6 2V intake can bolt up to a 5.4 with 2V heads. Would my KB fit with that stuff? It would be kinda cool to run a 5.4. Maybe I'm just being dumb.. I loved my 2V, I really did.. but I wouldn't mind going a different route if it was feasible.

There's no real point in going with the 5.4... It's way out of square so (feasibly) it will be less stressful on the 4.6 revving it high than on the 5.4. The power gain between the two is pretty slim. Plus you're going to have some hood clearance issues with the KB on top of the 5.4. The adapter plates are not optimal for airflow and power either... it's kinda of a "hey I need to have this thing running with a hood on it" sort of fix.

All signs point to just get the 4.6 :P

I would say skip the 5.4 as well.. I have one but all the low-mid gains are over run by the KB anyways. And there really isn't a huge peak difference. Plus the only way to do a 5.4 2v is with the hairballr intake... don't run those damn adapter plates.

sorry to hear about your car man,i installed a intercooled 2.1L in december and have the kenne bell tune.the car had 105,000 miles on it and now has 110,000 with no trouble.it has the stock exaust manifolds with no cats a bbk x pipe and 4 chamber flowmasters.it runs great,i read alot of posts about not useing a caned tune but wasent to concerned because i thought it would give out before too long with that many miles on it and i would build a new block and heads when that happend.but up to this point i have had no trouble and i drive it hard. it was on a dyno in december the sheet is in my garage,408 hp 456 ft lbs torque , AF 12.2 lean. i was getting a lean bank 2 code till i found a gas station in my area thet had fuel with no ethenol. i havent had the code since. how many miles were on your car when this happend? it was cold in florida when it was on the dyno and i was concerned it would blow up on me that day. the reason i went to the dyno was the lean bank 2 code so if the cold air and lean condition didnt blow it i figure im good.

update: kenne bell is rebuilding the blower for free. I'm extremely appreciative of this, and it's this kind of practice that makes me feel confident to continue a business relationship with them! I know I haven't updated in a while.. a lot of work has been done.. I'll post pics tomorrow.
