See, what were saying is get the handheld to store both your stock tune and you future tunes just because you might want to revert it to stock tune someday. Know what I mean?
the guy at the shop said not to bother with a handheld tune he has all the equipment and plugs straight into my computer at the shop. so thats what im going to do
yes, they can save the tune directly to your computer. but its a good idea to have a backup tune on a handheld. what happens if your ECU goes out or something. your then stuck with a stock tune on your car and have to pay another 500$ for the same dyno tune you had before.
or even if its something like a gear change. if you get a gear change you either need to buy a 100$ calibrator, or you could just turn the rear 02's off with your handheld.
its not smart to just have the tune loaded to your car dude. a used handheld will run you 100-150$.
Does he know the exact parameters of the stock tune? Just get a handheld and store your tunes in that so you can switch when you want to.
I would assume he does or else he doesn't get much business lol. I'd assume for someone in that field that the would at least know the stock parameters. Although tj's right. Always a safe idea to have a back-up copy. Just like with computers (have it save to a back-up hard drive). Because you never know where disaster can strike.
