I'm currently doing a 5 year masters program for accounting at mizzou (I don't graduate until Aug 2013). We have a for-credit internship during our second to last semester where the company assigns us a mentor to train us. It saves them a lot of money since they don't have to pay us while we are getting trained. They then take full advantage of the training by hiring you before you graduate (granted that you intend to sit for your CPA). It's definitely a good deal for all parties.

I hear you! It's REALLY annoying when they screw you out of hundreds because the publisher got greedy. It's like the new editions only change a few words/graphs and then expect you to pay the full price for a new book. UUGGGHH!!

you are giving them too much credit.....they just change the order of the chapters 90% of the time.

and since most 25 year olds that have been to college graduated 3-5 years ago depending on course taken thats a few years.

Yeah its pretty frustrating. There's nothing we can do about it either which is the sad part.

This is why the accounting chair at West Chester pieced together info from several texts books to make our own version of the Managerial and Financial accounting intro books. They cost like 50 compared to 150.
