IMO, it is better to tune your a/f on nitrous by changing the fuel jet anyway. The handheld won't change the a/f enough to really make a difference. As for timing however, it will work to pull out the additional timing needed for running a bigger shot. My nitrous tune was written for a 75 shot and I'm spraying a 125 shot. I take out 2* more timing and run the recommended jet that came with my kit. A/F is just under 12:1.

If i were you i'd look into a complete NX or NOS kit, and get the necessary accessories like bottle heater, pressure gauge, etc...

If you can buy it all at once then do it.

It would be a lot better to find a kit that has everything you need to install it in your car. There are numerous brands of nitrous kits out there so do your research and find some kits that people really like and haven't had any problems with. I was a little strapped for money and didn't feel like spending over $600 for a kit so I went with the one from dynotune for $379. I also bought all the other parts for it except for a bottle heater, thats my next purchase. Plus I did my research on it and read nothing but good things about it. From what I have read, Zex, NOS, NX and dynotune are good kits. It's all personnal preference. Here is the one from dynotune that is made for your car, 99-04.
