Default Burning Oil...

Well my 1996 gt is about to hit 140,000 and well its starting to show signs of buring more oil, when i start it up i get a bit of blue smoke blown out, and i find I have to add about a quart of oil every month to month and a half. I started putting 10w30 instead 5w30 in especially since I seem to burn more oil in htis blistering hot weather, so does anyone have any more reccomendations on how to prevent it? or should i be concerned?

Your engine is tired. Stop beating on it.

How many miles is a "month to month and a half"?

1qt in 1000 is considered to be the high end of "normal" consumption per the shop manual.

Try 20W-50 Maxlife in the summer...

vale seals are drying up and you want to use a heavyer weight motor oil and start think if you want to rebuild repace the motor with a creat engine depends on how much money you r working with

Well im at a cross roads. Im intending to do a rebuild within a year or so. I just dont know if id rather sell the car, or rebuild the motor. Cause once i rebuild theres no doubt in my mind ill be holding onto it. Whats the cost of a rebuild roughly?
