Stuck Tachometer
Guys,
I tried to use the search feature in "General Discussion" and also in "4.6L Modular Mustang" forums but I did not find an answer. Right now I have a 98 STOCK Mustang GT. A tiny back history...... The tach used to work fine untill it started sticking one day. During that time I was able to tap on the plexiglass that was apart of the cluster and tach would start responding again. This problem got progressivly worse over a short time. The tach is now just straight up stuck at 3k RPM. The car runs great though. No idling problems or anything. Even if I tap the glass, it won't move. All of the other gauges in the cluster work perfectly. Is this going to require me replacing the whole thing. Honestly, I have not taken it apart yet to take a look at it. I just wanted a little input before I started on the project. What do you guys think? To my knowledge, I THINK the tachometer is completely electrical. So maybe something is shorting in the circuitry? Please feel free to let me know if I am totally wrong. Better yet, point me in the direction of how to fix this issue. Thanks guys!
