Evolution debate ongoing.
In reading 5.0 mag this month I read something about fords tune that it modifies all three areas of the computer rather than just the PCM. That was supposidly the reason it takes 10 minutes to load. What areas do brenspeed and evo go into??
I just noticed that the C&L package comes with a diablo instead of the SCT2. Actually, the preditor looks like the easier to use machine by looks, but that doesent mean much.
Do evo and brenspeed offer tunes for the diablo as well, or only the sct-2?

Is it really fair to said every car is the same? I mean we are getting canned tunes and they will vary between one car to the next. I use to get pinging with the 87 tune and now I run the 87 tune with 93 octane and it runs great. Its not really fair to compare these two companies because ever car will be different no matter what the specifications are for the stock mustang. Just my two cents. By the way Brenspeed is one classy organization and I do know that. Thank you Sirs.

I quite agree with you there! You can tell they are a classy bunch just by reading there replies about this whole shinanigan.
Alright! I apologize for bringing this back from the dead. I just felt like I should add some input now that I've tried both out at the track. Also, based on other people's knowledge one could determine whether the other is better, and give me advice to make the best of the better tune.
First, I just wanted to say that the temperatures were scorching hot. I don't know the elevation and everything of the track (Englishtown NJ) but the cars were very hot. It's been since Feb/March since I've been to the track so I'm a little out of practice so to speak. All of my 60's were generally 2.4-2.6. I did cut a 2.1 which also provided my best time.
Anyway, I first had the Evolution tune plugged in and I ran about 2-3 times but none really counted because I was trying to get used to the track again. My launches were sucking horribly, I was spinning, bogging, and just overall having a bad night. First few runs I had 32psi in the rear and front, then I dropped the rears to 25 psi. All in all I was getting anywhere from 13.7-14.7 with the combination of both tunes.
A guy that worked at the speedway owns an 05-06 Mustang GT with Loudmouths only, and he wanted to run against me. The guy works there and gets plenty of drag time so I already know he's a better driver. We both launch and he just SOARS away... He had a 60' of 2.0 Mine was the 2.1, but it took me a while to catch up to him, but I ended up passing him with a 13.7 to his 14.0 or 14.1. He was more or less stock so I should have beaten him anyway. Just shows that I need to work on my launches. This was with the Brenspeed tune by the way.
With the evolution tune I couldn't get enough traction. I would spin 1st, begin turning sideways in 2nd, but I don't think the car really pulled any harder then the Brenspeed tune despite it's 25RWHP/25RWTQ over the Brenspeed tune. Other wise I would notice a higher mph, or something? I could be wrong. I tried doing my launches 2000-2500, and I would ease out of the clutch while easing into the gas. It just wasn't my night.
I did end up losing to a Z my first run, but that's only because I got a 14.7. I burned all the way through 1st, missed 2nd, and he ended up with a 14.2 The good thing is he only went up from there, never breaking into the 13s. There was an 04 STi there that wasn't doing very good, I beat him as well. I did get beat by another Mustang. An older fox body with a lot of work. He was running full slicks and skinnes up from. Infact he supposed to be in the lanes with the faster cars I think, but since it was closing he rushed into the staging lanes and we happened to pair up. He didn't beat me that bad, since I completely grinded 2nd gear... for some reason I couldn't hit 2nd that well tonight, and normally I have no problem shifting.
Anyway, back to the subject, which is the debate. Which is better? I don't know. Does the not being able to grab traction with the Evo tune mean that I'm just putting down too much power for the wheels to handle? Despite my traction issues, should the Evo tune pulled more then it did? I don't know, but again my best times have been with Brenspeed. 13.2 @ 106mph, colder temps. 13.7 @ 103mph, REALLY FRIGGIN' HOT.
Thanks.

I don't think he's an idiot, why would you call him that. Are you jeolous ?

I know Menace personally and we're friends that chat daily. Only he knows what I mean by that comment so if you don't have anything better to do, go play in traffic.
I just say tune it yourself. The only thing you really have to adjust is the shift patterns and spark advance. I got mine pulling pretty hard myself with out having to spend any extra money for a custom tune.
Well I have to ask what else you do with your time?
