Anyone have documentation on which end of the ford ranger driveshaft mod should be in the rear. My shop installed this end in the rear, and can't figure out why?

praztek, mine is exactly oposite. However i can't imagine there being much of a difference. I am big into four wheel drives as well and we always put the slip joint down low for the simple reason that gravity doesn't let water and grit run back against the seal. Once it wipes itself it stays clean. You may be better off...when your out in the mud!! JK

I'm surprised Ford hasn't recognized this and started producing the one piece aluminum shafts themselves or have whatever company produces the ranger shafts produce one for the new mustangs.

If you decide to make another, I am also interested.

actually i will make some more as soon as they find me some shafts. i will only use new ford shafts. i found a aftermarket company that sells driveshafts[sm=grin.gif] but i really would rather stick with oem ford stuff. i know it works. i'll post a thread when they get done. also have a new product for autos coming soon: deep trans pan with a "dipstick"[sm=goodidea.gif]

Hey spyder I know that you said you only use new drive shafts from ford but I can get you used ones for cheap man. I don't know how much you are paying from ford but I imagine it is more than I can get you one. PM me if you are interested because I can UPS you one tomarrow if you want.

only problem with using used ranger shafts is that the shaft i use FRPP M4602R is actually a replacement shaft. the original driveshafts in the rangers had a noise issue or something. when getting a used shaft you won't know which design you have. i just prefer starting with new stuff, heck it's a $25-30K car...why cheese out on a driveshaft?

Is the ranger driveshaft tube a 4" dia x .083" wall or is it a 3.5" dia x .083" wall?
If it is the 4" tube, has anybody run into any clearance issues?

Thanks, Brian
