08 Spark Plugs
#11
just checked my 08 and it had a build date of 10/07 but still have the old plugs (black tops) sh*t. that sucks. guess i will be having a tech at my work pull them out for me and put some anti seeze on them. that sucks. might have gotten one out of the last batch b4 the switch.

I've got the early plugs also AA on the cam cover. Is this something I should get the vehicle in for? Is there a TSB that covers this under warranty?
I've only got about 14,500 miles on mine so I'm still under warranty

Yes there is a TSB on it, but they don't work the way you're thinking. They won't just fix every TSB on your car for you, you have to recreate a problem, right now there is nothing to justify pulling your plugs, so they most likely will not do it.

Champion 7989's
I have three Fords and two have the 3V heads that use the two piece plugs. One is my '08 GT and the other is an '06 F-150 5.4. I've already changed the plugs in the GT once and installed the antiseize, but as the Champions were priced really high at the time I went back with a new set of stock plugs. As I rarely drive the car and it has only 2,100 miles on the clock, I've got time to correct it.
Last week I had the wife's vehicle at the Ford dealer for some work and asked the service rep whether Ford would cover any plug breakage problems if I were to bring in the '06 F-150 for a plug change while it is still covered by the 36 mo. 36,000 mi. warranty. Initially he said no, but I asked him to make a call and ask someone higher up, and he came back and said that while they would charge for the labor of the plug change, any breakage issues would be on Ford. I then got on the internet and ordered a set of the Champion 7989's to have put into the truck, which now has 21,000 miles.
I've read and heard that these plugs are a one piece design that corrects the breakage issues, but the 7989's that I just received are not a one piece design. The section below the threaded body is definitely a separate piece and there is a washer clearly positioned between the two parts. This now begs the question of whether these new Champions are a solution at all. Does anyone have any first hand experience with the Champion 7989's? I'd love to hear your opinions!
