Whats the difference between the C&L street and racer? I always planned on buying the steeda but it looks like c&l has the better product here.

i just posted this in another c&l cai thread. the following is the results of a dynotune with just a c&l racer cai.

i just put my c&l racer on my 08 gt. and had injected engineering dynotune it while i was at the team ford car show in marietta last weekend. and with just the cai and dyno tune i made the numbers in my sig. 290/304 to the wheels. this is after about an hour of starting the car and a couple of runs to get the a/f ratio set throughout the rpm band. so the motor was probably a little heat soaked by the time they went with the full power runs. but adding 29+rwhp and 30+rwtq with just a cai and tune isnt that bad.
but after doing a little math if the 15% loss is correct(5sp manual). i started at 255rwhp and 272rwtq. so pretty good numbers, i guess?
wish they would have done a before pull but there was a few cars gettin tuned at the show and they spent 2 hrs alone tuning mine. so i had to put the cai on right before they hooked it to the dyno.

It's possible that chad05gt's dyno chart showed more power being produced with the C&L Racer CAI because its 95 mm MAF opening helped his engine to breathe better with its modified heads, cams, and fuel injectors.

I recently learned that the % loss for a manual is plotted on a round curve rather than on a straight line. I believe at the lower end, the % loss is closer to 10% until you get up over 350. Anything over 400 comes out more firmly to 15%.

I think that fits the description of the racer best. It seems that the advantages of a larger MAF housing are not seen in stock or lightly-modified applications, but rather in heavily modified (read: cammed/stroked/ported heads/etc) applications.

I bought mine because it came with a plastic inlet...making $60 less than the street...

95mm MAF housing? Sure, why not?

Roger that. It's performance is pretty much identical to the Street's.

I've seen 2 stock dynos.. one was 272/286 the other was 265/280.. so i suspect more like 25 rwhp and 25rwtq.. which is probably what most people quote for gains on an otherwise stock engine wether its a steeda or a C&L or a JLT..
