Kooks LT heads and xpipe w/cat and Borala Attack
Hey guys, I've been looking into ordering some headers on the American Muscle site and pretty much decided on the Kooks LT headers with their catted X-pipe. Now, I want to get the ATAK Borla but I noticed that American Muscle only sells it as a cat back system, would that be an issue with the Kooks headers and xpipe?

No, he would use the whole cat back system. The header/mid pipe combos are designed to end at the same location as your factory combo. At this point they can be mated to your factory pipes using the factory clamps and location or to a cat back system. The cat back system will just replace your factory pipes that run from the mid pipe to the axle and then include the "axle back". There is really no benefit with a cat back other than the fact that the over axle pipes are crimped from the factory and mandrel bent with the Borla which is insignificant until you're at insane power levels. In your case, you want the ATAK system and it only comes in a cat back, so you've made your decision. I just replaced a Pypes MM cat back with a Borla Stinger cat back on my car and I can't even begin to tell you the difference in quality/fit/sound.
It will look something like this:
Factory manifolds + factory h pipe / Factory Pipe / Axle Back
Factory manifolds + factory h pipe / Cat Back (includes axle back)
Kooks headers + Kooks x pipe / Factory Pipe / Axle Back
You're going to end up with this:
Kooks headers + Kooks x pipe / Cat Back (includes axle back)
Does that make any sense? LOL
