Whining/whirring noise while driving
Hi guys. I know there are a lot of posts about a whining noise. But I have read several and none of them seem to actually be the same issue I have. Hence the new post.
So I bought a 2006 5 speed gt a few days ago. Even when I test drove it it made a whining whirring sound in 4th and 5th gear. But it drove fine and has low miles and was a good deal so I bought it. It is a high pitched whine that I don’t really hear in 3rd and hear some in 4th but is quiet. In 5th it is pretty loud. It makes the noise whether I am accelerating, cruising, or I let off the gas. But it stops when I push in the clutch. I can’t say for absolute certain but I think because of that it is in the transmission not the rear end. It doesn’t seem to affect how the car drives. It just is loud. Anybody know what it is?

Im having similar issues, just posted about it. I read on another forum someone recommended Prolong Transmission Treatment. I already bought some, just waiting to get it.. Still not super confident it will solve my issues though. He had fresh cut gears, and said it worked for him.
