Default Help with noise

I own a 2002 Mustang GT with 104,000 miles. When I am in gear and slowing, I get a whining noise from the driveline. The guys at the local Ford dealer have checked it out, replaced the gears in the rearend, as well as pulled and inspected the tranny and I still get the noise. If I take it out of gear while slowing, the noise goes away. The car was lowered with different springs. Any thoughts?

Is the car an automatic?

If so, the planetary gears could be goin bad.

Usually a rear makes noise on tip in, or rarely it'll do it on decel..but being in gear wont really affect noise on decel. If you know the rear is in spec, then I'd be willing to bet planetary gears. If you got a T45 then its time for a rebuild because whining gears is a sign of a trans about to explode lol. What "gear" and speed do you notice this the most

Its supposed to do that i think, mine does too. It lets you know that if you let the clutch out without revving it will be pretty violent slowing effect/driveline shock

Its not exactly "letting you know", its more the gears tryin to catch up to the input shaft speed.... If its a manual, some noise is normal, if if its whining in every gear then I'd be a bit more concerned. Everyone I know that had a noisey trans like Im talkin about grenaded soon after

the only time it makes this noise for me is when im in 1st at like 30 mph and my RPMS are dropped to idle with the clutch pushed in

not sure if its the same thing as the OP's but thats what i thought he was referring to

The car is a 5 speed and I hear the noise is all gears when I am decelerating. When I take the car out of gear and decelerate, the noise goes away. The tranny was taken out and looked at as well as replacing the gears in the rearend. Could lowering the car contribute to the noise? Any chance it could be the driveshaft or the u-joints?

I had an issue with my pinion angle, but not because I lowered my car. I installed a set of UPR control arms, and the upper arms were too short causing some serious pinion angle. The noises it made were bad...and it was only when I was goin faster than 50mph and then slowing down.. but the noise was there whether I was in gear or not...and only at high speeds. I'd have to hear it to really help you man...its hard tryin to imagine a noise over the internet. I still think your trans might be the culprit
