The answer is yes... take off the pump hoses etc and have manual steering. only one thing to remember: DO NOT PLUG THE HOLES ON THE RACK... leave them open. Oh and if you have doubt that is exactly what im doing...

I heard that If you remove the P/s pump and plug the lines, that youll burn up you rack and pinion...is this true....Im going to remove my powersteering, and just plug up the lines, I dont have the money for a new manual rack or a new p/s pump...my pump is squealing bad...so I just want to ramove it and run a smaller belt...will It be fine?

I was told the rack had to breath if you did this and went manual.... Thats what Im doing... And have been for a long time... I suppose one day I will get a manual rack but until then mine is unplugged...

thanks guys for the input, turns out i can buy a rack at my job for 50 bucks lol, then i bought a new pump cause that pos blew the seal! but the new cobra rack is temporary till i get a flaming river manual
