Default is this normal...

Is this normal....everytime I start my car I hear loud ticking of lifters and stuff, when I start it, because there is no oil in the top of the motor, then like 3 seconds later it goes away because the oil is being pumped into the motor.....is this normal? I see when Im starting on the first 1st crank there is no oil pressure and I see the oil pressure go up onces its running. is it normal?

I won't pretend to know why your motor is doing that (bad lifter?) But one shot in the dark--are you using a heavyweight oil? I've seen that happen with too thick of an oil before.
