Default Thermostat

Tonight i put on my new radiator hoses and a new 180 degree thermostat. After i finished the thermostat housing was leaking around the new gasket. So i tightend down on them even more and it slowed down to about once every 4 seconds. Then i started it up and drove around, it ran great and cooler. When i got back the car was warmed up and the drip had stop around the new gasket. Is that normal and is it going to last or do you think the leak will come back?

when i did that my leak came back i eventually had to use gasket sealer and a gasket for my leak to stop with cranking down on the bolts but it sounds like my was leaking a lil more than urs is. something for u to try if it doesn't but definately keep an eye out for it

if you replace the gasket get one that has an adhesive on the one side to hold the thermostat in the recessed part of the housing as you put it in. most times the leak is caused by the thermostat falling out of there as you put it in.

Try using RTV black or red (hi temp) to seal it. It works well on everything else...
