Question about a 347 Bottom End
I am looking into buying a 1995 Mustang GT. It has a 347 with a tremec behind it. I'm sure the owner beat the crap out of it when he got the motor installed, and now it makes a clanking sound when you start it up. It seems to be pretty loud from what he says, but he can still run the engine. He thinks it is a broken wristpin, but I was wondering what else could do this? I don't think it's rod-knock, as he said he has checked the top end and it seemed alright. But the car has this 347 with a forged bottom end, trick flow heads and intake, a tremec trans, and a bunch of other good stuff in it for $4000. It needs an alignment, a windshield, and brakes. I am looking to get rid of the air conditioning and heat, so thats not of any worry to me. I'm sure I can lowball him on the price, but I am wondering if this is a good starting point to build my next car?
