Default Trouble starting please help

Can't figure this one out. Bought a brand new battery, cause I wasn't getting any juice. I would get enough to put the windows up and down, but then as soon as I try to start it, I lose all power, and have nothing left to even put the windows up and down. Even with the brand new battery it's still doing the same thing. Any ideas what might be wrong? If it was a starter I shoudl still get power, which I'm not, I have no idea where to begin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Where shoudl I be checking the cables? The cables on the battery and on the soleniod seem ok. Should I check the cables running the starter? Also would it be easier to just replace all those cables?? Thanks again

if you put a test light on the cable one end and then hit the same cable on the other end with the test light have someone turn the key if the light lights up you are getting a voltage drop.and you need a cable but you did say you where getting nothing so like said before check your connections.and make sure the ground is clean and tight at the motor.

Alternator.....figured that would only hurt the car while it was running, even trying to jump the car won't get it started, if alternator was bad wouldn't it just die while it was running....
