Which way is for tie rods?

Jack that corner up so the wheel is off the ground, grab the tire at 12 & 6 and rock back and forth. Movement = bad
It may be 3 & 9 for wheel bearings, I forget. Check both ways ones for wheel bearing ones for ball joints.

RE: annoying noise..
to check wheel bearings without taking wheel off try to drive at about 50-55mph and jerk the wheel slightly back and forth if the noise comes and goes when you load and unload the right front wheel bearing this might be your problem i have had wheel bearings in the past that wont show any movement when you have car on jack but then got noise when bearings are loaded going down the road just a sugesstion hope this helps you

3 and 9 = tie rods
12 and 6 = ball joints.
i never really use the grab and shake method as i like to call it to check wheel bearings because it isnt really a good way to do it. I'd rather look at the bearings to see if any of the rollers are damaged. thats just me though.
and ryan's suggestion is dead on. thats how i find bad hubs on newer cars where the hub and bearing is one assembly. loading the bearing to see if it makes noise is always better than just free wheeling it.
