Hello everyone, Well ever since I got my car everytime I start it, it makes a cracking noise, like the solonoid is sticking and wont disengage or whatever. I've posted up before but all I got was oh go buy a new starter, well im 16 and cant afford just to go dish out that kind of cash. My car starts fine but just makes that noise. Do you think I could have a bad solonoid? Please post up any things to check, I'm clueless onto what this could be and its ticking me off because it makes my car sound like a piece when started up. Thanks

its like a hiss of some sort, i cant explain it. either way the solonoid is not disengaging and i'd like to know how to fix that.


so you start up the car right, and right after it fires its like a crackle for a few seconds then it stops.

It might just be your selenoid...maybe voltage regulator. If you're worried about spending on a new starter then try a rebuild kit for your starter, (Bushings and brushes). if you can get one for it. Has the starter been replaced recently?(Just before you bought the car)

new starter is like $40-60 plus u get $20 with ur old core

u got money to mod ur stang but cant get a new starter?

I pay payments on it, I dont mod it often unless I get a good check for a couple of weeks and save. I think it might be the solonoid, the starter starts the car, just somethings not disengaging after its started.

And yea, the starter went when I went to look at the car back in January so the guy went to the dealership and got a new one and had a friend put it in, then he called and said it started but made an unusual noise and his mechanic said that it needed time to wear into the flywheel or the flywheel is bad... wtf? But if it didnt do it before then it shouldnt have done it when the brand new starter was installed. So do you guys think i should replace the solonoid or test it?

I told the guy that his mechanic is an idiot and needs to find another profession.



I am going to go buy a shim kit. Its 4.44 at Advanced auto. If that doesnt work, then I'm going to buy a new starter.
