AOD's at the track
Hey
I want to put mods on my 90 lx coupe AOD, but my freinds say it's not worth moding an AOD they told to do a T-5 swap but i just dont have the resourses to do that. I just want an estimate of what kind of numbers will i run in the 1/4mile i plan to add a 2 to 2400 stall converter, 4:10 gears, shift kit, off-road h-pipe, hooker headers, cobra upper and lower intake manifold, cold air intake, and ground pounder drag launch springs. please help me if you can and thank you for your time.

RE: AOD's at the track
I personally prefer to shift my own gears, but would not say an AOD was not worth modifying. An inexperienced driver will get better times with an AOD because they don't have to worry about missing shifts or slow shifts. You can modify you AOD to shift hard and fast. If you like your AOD keep it. Anyway, I wouldn't swap a T-5 into anything, they're junk. If you swap a manual into an Auto car at least get a good manual tranny.

If you setup the overdrive right there's nothing wrong with it, in stock conditions a manual will win out but that doesn't mean you can't work on it. The stall and shift kit are great upgrades for you. A standard conversion is expensive and time consuming, you may as well just get a nice performace AOD tranny instead.
