Default HELP FROM THE PRO'S

I recently my car to the mechanic shop and the guy told me that my fuel pump went out. So I went to pick up the car b/c I said I could change the pump myself. When I dropped the tank and pulled the pump I ran power to the pump off of another source and the pump still ran. So I went and got my stop pump and did the same thing and it worked as well as the other. Point is my pump is still good and this is my problem.

I check the power to the fuel pump and I am not getting anything. Does anyone know where or what color the power wire is to the fuel pump and also can I run a direct source to the pump for the battery when the car is engaged? Also does anyone know where to check the wiring under the dash or to the battery for the fuel pump ? Why would I not be getting any power to the pump??? Your help is greatly needed. Thanks

Might be a fuse or the relay.

If you took it to this so called shop then they should've properly diagnosed it.

Sometimes when a pump fails and you remove it, they start to work again. Don't be fooled and think the pump is fine, replace it anyways. You are aware that the pump does not run continuiosly unless the engine is running, right? Do you get a second where the pump runs and then shuts off?

That little black box with the red button is your fuel pump cutoff switch. Sometimes it gets reset, such as in a accident, It could possibly be reset by a hard jar, like if you hit a pothole, etc... consider it a breaker, and will need to be reset if it gets "tripped". Im not sure if it goes "bad" or not, but if you cant reset it (Just push the button), try replacing it with one out of a junkyard

that box is an inertia switch. make sure the button is pushed in or your pump wont work.
