Pro's and Cons of dry gas?
My car has been unregistered for 1.5 years now and I have been starting it once or twice a month for a half hour. Something about sitting at idile when I start it seems wrong. It sat unstarted for four months last winter and I simply changed the oil and filled the tank and left it. Are there anything negitive about using dry gas? Someone told me who owned a old car that dry gas will acctually cause more rust in the tank...

you should try to drive it a little each time you start it even if its just up the drivemay or down to the corner and back...allowing the grease to work itself around parts and i've never heard of dry gas to cause rust... try using a fuel treatment instead

Anything that contains oxygen will enhance rust in your tank.
It's best to leave the tank as full as possible, and, as mentioned, try to move the car a little bit to help the grease move around...even if it means putting the rear axle on stands and letting the car idle in gear.

thanks for the info people! I drive it out of the guarage when I start it. This comming winter I will be away from the car for probably most of the winter. last winter I put the car on Jack stands and gave it new oil and started it with the new oil and then stoped it as soon as the oil pressure went up and also filled the tank. Do you have any better recomendations on my storage for the comming witner?

why dry gas? wats wrong with normal unleaded gas?
cars that sit for a while are going to have problems
mechanical problems should not be ur only worry
if it sits for too long.. it may become the new home for a mouse
they like to chew on wires

I thought about using dry gas because it will keep the fuel from getting old and I'm not sure but I would amagine it would also keep the tank from rusting. How are the people leaving there car when they store it for the winter. You drive yours in MA in the winter?
