Default 93 wiring question! Answer if you dare!

I just recently installed a 3g- 130amp 94+ alternator on my 93 GT hatch.

I have 3 questions-

1. What was the stock amp in POLICE issue 5.0's?
2. Was the police wiring harness (other than that used for lights, but the entire harness) composed of beefier wires than the standard GT?
3. What is the estimated amperage load capacity of a '93 GT's wiring harness?

I had 14.4V tested at the local alternator shop yesterday at idle, but my battery light is on alot now, and I'm not sure, but I THINK I smell burning when I'm driving. But that could be a myriad of things- including new alternator paint burning off.

yeah you definatly need to run the wire, the stock harness will not handle the extra amps. read this https://mustangforums.com/m_1609872/tm.htm

SDmaker- I love you.

I never thought I'd say that to a guy other than a family member.

I did the 3g thing. I put a huge wire to my starter relay. I think it was a 6 gauge??? I bought some nice eye links, and soldered them on the wire I bought. From there I have the fat cable that came in my Summit battery re-locator that goes to the trunk.

If you have a beefy wire that goes to the battery, all should be good. Your components should drian the same no matter what, but with the 3g, they'll always get the power they ask for. I run an electric fan nonstop.

Underdrive pulleys are the worst really. I run the crank pulley only. My car still gets hot, and charging can be a problem if you're not above 1000rpms sometimes especially if you're running the full pulley set.

Here's a thread I did on this way back. Sorry about the picture though. I deleted them long ago from my server.
