Default Rockers on an '87

I thought I read that starting in 87 or was it 86 that Ford put roller rockers on the HO's, the reason I ask is a guy on ebay had a set of standard type rockers for sale, saying I thought off an 87 or newer, and he installed new rollers on his engine. I havent had my covers off, so I am wondering if my 87 GT has them or not.

no only the 1993 cobra motor had roller rockers, the rest of the metric 5.0's used the standard pedistal mount rockers. if you want roller rockers crane makes a pedistle mount 1.7 kit for just under $200. it will take the lift from the stock cam from .445 to .473 stock durration 276 intake 266 exaust will remain unchanged however.

you could either machine the standard 5/16 to 3/8 and install a standard screw in stud and use stud mount roller rockers, it will cost more to do it this way though.

Just to clarify, the stock rockers on the 5.0 HO are 1.6 ratio and are stamped steel. Most people upgrade to aluminum roller rockers (1.6 or 1.7) to free up some horses and friction in the motor.
