Default help with throttle

I just bought a 89 gt as my first mustang. Car is stock except for cai, headers, and exhaust. Everytime i floor the gas pedal in first gear the rpms would go straight to around 5k with no acceleration and then the back of the car would kick out a lil. Whats up with that? I just did a tune up. Spark plugs, wires, fuel filter and oil change. [:@]
btw stupid question but should i get a balancer? Im an import guy.

doubt it, you just have to get used to such power, slowly let out the clutch and give it little bit of gas not flooring it
