Default RE: Rear Coil Spring Installation

When I did my rear springs i tried the C arm method and it made things so difficult, and the bolt was a ***** to get out. I'd recommend after getting the rear of the car on jackstands (on the frame) jack up under the diff, undo the two lower shock bolts and the quad shock bolts. Let the axle down slowly now, and for extra clearance jack up the opposite side that you want to work on. This helped me huge...

I see why I'm screwed. I have the car on jack stands, both tires off, both lower shock bolts out, both quad shocks off, and a jack under the differential.

When I lower the jack the rear end only lowers a tiny amount. It's then that I realized my exhause pipes are going under the rear axel instead of over. The exhaust is not allowing the axel to drop to the ground. Poop.

So I guess its the control arm or nothing.

i recently decided i would try using this thread to get me through doing my rear springs. Everything has gone fine until now i have my springs on but i cant get the control arms to line up correctly to get the bolt in. It goes close but is slightly twisted and b4 it gets the correct height, the rearend begins to lift as well. Any ideas would be helpful.... gonna go mess with it in an hour or so again...

Damn i got the new springs in but i cant get the friggin rear end to align with the bolt holes for the lower control arm. Not only does the rearend seem to far back to align, it also seems the control arms are twisted or something so even if i could get 1 side of the control arm to align the other side of that control arm wont... any ideas guys? Something im missing, sure would like to get my car back together but i dont know if i will be able too.....[>:]

Yes dude, i had the same problem w/ the C arm not lining up, it was way off actually. I had to drop the rear axle and then it lined back up. Read my post above for how I did it... Once you drop the other side it will line back up again, just the way it hangs is uneven so both sides need to be loose.

i dropped em both and put jacks under both. Still didnt really come very close. ended up having my dad come over and put a 2x4 against his bumper and had him push it against my rear end till it went far enough, and i slapped the bolt in... Not an easy task if i didnt have someone to help...[>:]
