Default 351 Heads

Okay so back in the day I had a 1982 5.0 with 351 heads. It was carbed and ran great.

So now I am in the process off getting the Trick Flow Track Heat Manifold.....and putting a blower cam in the car. I am in the process of saving for the AFR 185 heads. However I came across some 351 heads in the junk yard. The little gears in my head started turning and if I picked up the 351's for the rock bottom price of...........could I use them with the new manifold?

Would I have to change to use these heads....and would it be a good idea? I know they worked on my other 302 but I dont know about my 1989 motor.

Then I started thinking again........what if I just pulled the 351 and started that project?

I know you are going to say do the motor swap...but give me an answer on the heads.

i ported some 351 heads, did a valve job, roller rockers and hardened pushrods.

worked great on my 89 5.0. Obviously you will need new valve covers and most stock 351 valve covers wont clear roller rockers if you go that route so you can minimal grind or order ones that will clear.

ran with f303 cam, edelbrock performer rpm manifolds, 70mm edelbrock throttle body, bbk fenderwall intake, flowtech headers, flowtech xpipe, and a flowtech catback system. cut all smog and ac stuff. was the first set of mods i did and loved it and kept it for 2 years until later building a block and getting aluminum heads and everything else.

you might want to get an intake spacer for between the upper and lower intake manifolds.. the 351 valve covers are taller and with the spacer you can take them off to adjust the rockers without taking the upper intake manifold or anything else off saving time and gaskets. with the spacer though you might need a taller hood than stock... it might just fit.
