Default getting pumped

Just installed a Paxton sn93, Mallory ignition box, MSD coil, Iriduim plugs, Aurora 8.5mm wires, BBK equal length shorty headers, X pipe, glass pack mufflers. Now I am searching out a fuel system, and should I get some type of super chip? What are my options to getting this thing tuned to a safe threshold and I am a little concerned about detination as I hear it is a bad thing. should I fool with timing? Thanks, a new guy!

Default RE: getting pumped

You need to run, not walk to the nearest speed shop and get some good advice before you do anything else. Yes you will need an upgraded fuel system, probably including new bigger injectors, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and a bigger fuel pump. You definitely don't want to increase the timing over stock, in fact you may need to drop it back a couple of degrees to avoid detonation or pre-ignition. You also should invest in a boost gauge so you know what the manifold pressure is and you may need to get a timing retard device that works off the boost pressure to lower the timing when the boost comes on strong. I don't have a supercharger myself, but I know that you have to get the combination of fuel, boost, and timing just right or you will ruin your motor, so please find somebody who can tell you what exactly to do. Call the people at Paxton also, they can help you out also. Your best bet is to find a Mustang shop that can dyno tune your combination to make sure it doesn't run too lean under boost, it will be worth the money in the long run and they can also probably retune your computer chip too.
