Im getting a good deal on a 351W with the heads. Are these heads GT 40? And if so what will it take to bolt the 351W heads up to a 302?

Ohhhhhhhhh. So you want to get a 351W and just use the heads for your 302... what are you going to use the block for?

Anyway, yes 351W heads will bolt right up to a 302. I dont believe they are GT-40 heads.... they just flow a little better than the stockers on the 302. Im not sure if it would be worth a headswap though ya know. Unless you have some work done to them.

yea I fried a valve or something on my 91. As long as Im tearing it down Im thinking I might as well upgrade my heads and cam. My friend has a 351W just laying around in his garage, and he's giving it to me for like $50. Anyway I am thinking about some GT 40's with a port job and some 1.7 rockers maybe. I may just pull the whole engine out and stroke it................. I dont know WTF to do.

what year is the motor? get a engine block stand and rebuild that motor... send out the short block and get it blueprinted/balanced, then build her up from there.... can u get by with your 302 as it is?

the 351 is a mid 70's. My 302 is running on 6 cylinders and its not very drivable. Its okay cause as of a couple days ago its no longer my daily driver. I dont know if I want to go the 351W route yet. My friend told me its not as easy as everyone thinks. Plus I dont want that much HP maybe 450 tops, maybe.
