A way I have done it in the past is plug the pipes and vacum lines, leving them looking stock, and pull the smoke grinde and gut it, leaving the shaft and bearings intact, all looks stock, but the drag is gone.

What gains would you be looking at if you removed the smog pump, the a/c and substitute the clutch fan for an electric one (mk8 or something else)
