I searched for about 20 minutes and could not find the answer.'

I am taking my heads off and currently have the valve covers and rockers off.

How do I tell if they are GT-40 heads. There is a GT stamped in the head near the valve springs and some other numbers next to it, but no where do I see GT40.

well, i have gt40 heads on mine and mine are stamped "GT40"... but be careful.. there are also GT40P which come off of explorers. I'm not sure if just by being stamped "GT" means if they're GT40

gt-40 heads will be stamped "GT" under the valve cover and right above one of the spark plug holes

Thanks....Mine do say GT under the valve cover and near the spark plug.

Just wanted to know because I am probably going to sell them and by some AFR 185s.

Where exactly does it say GT near the spark plug? Could you see it even with the heads still mounted? Just curious.

you can see it on the car. look on the drivers side and it will be right above the #8 plug(rear plug)

If you are standing on the passenger side of the car, look towards the front spark plug and it will say GT near the header. It might say it on the other side too, did not look. Also read somewhere that the regular GT 40 heads have 3 lines on the front of the head and the Ps have four. Mine have 3 lines.
