replace the whole arm is my opinion too. if the ball joints are bad there's a good chance the bushings are bad also. the new arms have improved geometry also. i found it to be a pain in the butt to do though.
Then why not just replace the bushings as well? You don't need to replace the whole CA. Ford just said that because at the time of release, there were no balljoints available for it, no aftermarket support, so you had no choice but to buy the whole thing from ford. Ball joints were $12 a piece and so were the bushings when I did mine. so $24 in ball joints and $24 in bushings, $48 later, I had new everything on my control arms. I had the crossmember out of the car for paint so I did it while it was all out. All I did was slam the control arm in a vice, took a machinists hammer and pounded them out then pounded the new ones in. Did the same with one that was still in a car (4 cyl), just put a jack stand under the control arm and pounded them out then back in with everything back together (springs in) was an easy job. Did the same on a 95 GT.. blah blah blah, easy to do.

If you're going through the trouble of replacing the whole arm, just get an aftermarket one like AJE, they make them with the spring perches and are supposed to be quite a bit lighter also.... Not to mention this is coming off your unspring weight, and they say 1lbs off unsprung weight is like 10lbs off of sprung weight...
interesting info, can you post a link to said arms? I was looking for an aftermarket tubular arm but could not find any for my year with a spring perch...

nvm i found the site, which ones were u talkin bout tho?
