why all the clatter ?
my rocker arms are making alot of clatter. i pulled the valve covers and they all seem tight, no movement up and down and the push rods seem to have at least some preload, " twisting". ive not had much experience with pedestal mount rocker arms. recovering chevy guy.any help would be great.

no work in a while . bought the engine as a long block so i or anybody else have toched them since i got it about 4500 miles ago. i noticed the clackin about 1500 miles in. oil press is up around 50 psi. and its a older block with flat tappet cam. the cam is a comp 280

I would also check the preload of the lifters.
With the valve closed, you should snug up the rocker so the pushrod isn't loose, but still spins freely. From that point, you should tighen and torque your rocker arms down to 19ft/lbs...if it takes more than one full turn, you need to add shims, if it takes less than 1/2 turn, you need to remove shims or get shorter pushrods.

You need to ues shims or shorter pushrods....it isn't as simple as stud type, but they will stay put and you shouldn't have to mess with them once you get them right...I like mine so far.
