Default smog pump

My ac has a seperate belt that runs to the crank so i imagine i can just lose that one. CanI just use a smaller belt and just leave the smog pump on the car just bypass it?

weird! ...sure you can bypass it, but you'll have to delete the cats and plug the holes behind the heads, or at least plug the lines... i'd just the pump and A/C off, the whole point of that is to save weight, unless you're just looking for an extra horsepower or two.
