nodular steel...?

what exactly is nodular steel ...is it still cast or forged.....and has anyone had a crank turned...i can get a 347 nodular steel crank for like $50 but it needs to be turned....should i get it or no..??

It's cast. What brand is it? New Scat cranks are only $199. If it's something like a CAT it's not worth it.
