I know heads and a cam would go far to getting me 350whp on my stock 5.0. However, let's say even thought I have the money, I don't wanna spend $1,300 on a new pair fo heads. What car or truck should I look for in a junkyard to see about maybe getting some good cheap heads that can be ported / polished?

if u got around 800 dollars world windsor junior heads are awesome, they are iron but they are great heads

fast and cheap don't come together... look for used aluminum gt40 heads... e bay is your best bet.

GT-40s off an explorer. Check for 3 bars on the side of the head. I've heard of people getting them for like 100 bucks from junkyards.

Are those GT40p heads and what year for the explorer?

gt-40 and gt-40p are different heads. With gt-40p's you have to get different headers. I think it's '96-'97 explorers. Just do a search, you'll find a bunch of info.
