Default RE: 347 Oiling Problem

Thanks guys for your input. Yea, I know I need to get a larger oil pan. I kept the old one due to budget. ...but if the pump pulls all the oil out then I will need a really large budget to fix it. The engine is a new build (last 3 months) so timing chain and all gaskits are new. There is no spew of oil out the back of the block so Ican nowassume that the problem is under the timing case cover. I will pull it off later today and have a look see. Thanks again for all the good advise. Regards to all, John

i've said it 1000 times and i will say it agian. they make a high volume pump, and a high pressure pump. the high pressure pump will not put all your oil in the top of the motor, so it works much better than a high volume pump, and provides a better cushion of oil on your bearings.

ford used these on the boss 302's btw - and im pretty sure they know what they are doing

Default Paul Harvey

Sure wish Paul Harvey was around so I could find the rest of the story on forum threads. Spend time reading...then the suspense...then thread dies cold...repeat cycle

Was the suspect hiding behind timing chain cover...hmmm
