Default Got a Problem...

So... Lately I've been driving my stang around and such right and it drives real fine most of the time... So here's the problem now:

The car seems like it loses spark or something, its weird. The tach will bounce down to zero, like the car is off and then bounce back to normal, feels like a miss or something.
It will do it when its cold
It will do it when its warm
It will do it at idle
It will do it when I'm just cruising down the road at 2k
When I'm throttling it down the road and it does it, it will backfire sometimes

It's really pissing me off because I'll be driving and it will do it a little sometimes and then other times it will do it alot and kill the car. Then it will sit there and crank and crank and crank, and then other times it will start right back up just fine.

Spark plugs, cap, rotor, coil and wiresare a year and a half old.
Distributor is stock nothing has been replaced on it to my knowledge.

Help would be so very much appreciated. Thanks.

If the tach bounces to zero your losing the rpm signal it sounds like an ignition problem check coil and conections and the tfi module that's on the side of the dizzy.

My car was fine one day, then the next I couldn't hardly drive it. It ended up being the ground cable from the battery to engine/inner fender. My gauges acted funny too.

yes ground are gay like that.... personally id start by doing a visual on everything... grounds wires connections etc... and if nothing fixes the 1st part id replace is the coil. thats what it sounds like to me... or the tfi

My car also recenty had a problem kind of like your too...seems like it would quit then go again. Anyway, I went thru a lot of things like new fuel pump twice..... ended up changing an O2 sensor and the problem went away so far.(no codes either)

+1 on the grounds, thats a pretty common problem. Also you can take your TFI module and get it tested. Ford are notorious for the TFI going out. You can also take off your coil and test the resistance of it and compare it to the resistance of a new coil. Try to pinpoit the problem first before playing the guessing game. Ofcourse do the freebies first like checking grounds and getting those things tested.
