timing chain cover and nitrous
the timing chain cover on my 5.0 seeps a little bit near the driver side valve cover. if i can catch it while the engines cold u can see a trace of green but not a puddle and whatevers there seems to eventually burn off.
ive got an 86 roller motor sitting at a friends house, waiting to get bored, refreshed and topped off with h/c/i.
the current 5.0 in my 93 is pretty old but runs really strong. the only problem with it, if u even want to call it one, is the little leak at the timing chain cover.
ive really been tempted lately to purchase a ZEX dry nitrous system for 93 motor but im not sure if the increased cylinder pressure would cause me to blow the gasket. im also going to do a compression test at work tomorrow if i get a chance, and if its level throughout, ill be going to the track after work.
i went up wednesday (yesterday) and i couldnt seem to break 14.8's. i ran 5 times and it went 14.9 consistently which is a bit slower than what its capable of but i think i ran it too rich (42psi vaccum off) and i was on all season tires.
and yeah i know the cover isnt that hard to replace, its just that i really dont wanna put anymore money into it. its got over 170,000 miles and i dont really baby it at all. last night i accidently popped it into first while WOT (its an AOD too DURR!!) and it pegged the redline. talk about floating the valves
heres the kit i want:
