Smog Pump

RE: Smog Pump
Instructions? heres some -
Remove the serp. belt
Unscrew the A.I.R. pipe from the smog pump.(the 5/8" pipe that runs to the H-pipe).
Remove the 2 bolts and 1 nut that hold the smog pump to the engine.
Remove the clamp or whatever that holds the A.I.R. pipe to the H-pipe.
Plug the hole, 2 ways of doing this, crimp the pipe shut or insert a plug.
Now heres the fun part, youre going to need to drill a hole in the in the alternator bracket for the tensioner locating pin. You need to rotate the the tensioner about 0.5" counterclockwise. Otherwise the belt will rub on itself.
Then youre going to need a shorter belt. I have an underdrive crank pulley, mine need a 69.5", 6 rib belt. If you have the stock crank pulley yours will probably be about 2-3" longer (if not more). so roughyly 71.5" +.

RE: Smog Pump
step 1: Remove belt, all hoses to smog pump and the smog pump itself
step 2: Take a hammer and screwdriver to the insides of the smog pump, being careful not to damage the pully or shaft.
step 3: Lube up the shaft on the Pump and makesure the pully spins freely.
Step 4: cap off the hole left from the Smog Pump Hose on the hpipe and either get the approprite bolt for the back of the heads or take the metal tube out from thefront of the firewall (behind engine), put it in avice and bend it over several times to cap it off.
Step5:reinsatall pump, beltand enjoy your free mod. (idid this because i switched to an o/r h-pipe and because I didnt want to spend the money to buy a smog pump delete)
enjoy
