don't the manuals have where it retards timing during shifts and autos don't? cuz it sure does feel like the auto is as fast or faster

Yes they do retard the timing between shifts but manuals are still faster. Based on your 16.4 your car was running more than a second slower than it should have been at the time so something else is probably wrong, unless you're in the Rockies.

I'm sorry to say this but barring something being horribly wrong with your car this just sounds like an unexperienced driver to me, your car should have run low 15's stock, with an average driver...

no in northern tennessee but i ran it in southern ky but not much elevation diff i dont think but thet auto car of mine still seems like it runs so much better for what it is than my manual car does. what else could be wrong with it?

i seen a notch run a 12.3 with stock cam and ported e7s. weight can affect your time as well
I find that hard to believe.

i ran a 14.0 with 3:73 gears, exhaust, trickflow intake, headers, 75mm throttle body, and cold air... you should be alteast a mid to high 14.

my 93 ran a best of 13.3 with an eldebrock intake mac shorty headers, 3.73 and slicks everything else was stock(tb, mass air, etc.) timing was set at 16 base timing, tps .91 with slicks.

it might have run high fifteens stock that was my first racing experience and it was a sucky pass i'll admit but lets get past all that how come it didn't do any better than .4 gain from just the cam to everything else it has now?
