Default Head Gasket

I have a question about head gaskets, what size bore should the head gasket have if I have a 302 bored .030 over. It will have 6psi of boost and edelbrock heads if it makes a difference. I thought the head gasket should match the bore of the engine but I guess that is not always correct since summit only carries one 4.030 bore head gasket. Any advice would be great, i'm trying to order all the parts to rebuild my engine and I want to make sure I get it right.

4.100 is what your looking for, and im sure you wont have it at 6 psi for long, so spend the money and get some quality ones. I plan on running 10 psi andi am using fel pro 1011-2

I plan on keeping it at 6psi for a long time (broke college student), I put copper head gaskets in my last engine they were great, never leaked even at 10psi and constant abuse. The rings didn't fare so well.

I just looked on summit racing, I know its not the only place to order parts from but I consider it a good source. They only have 4.060 bore head gaskets. Would these work on a 302 bored .030 over

I looked into that gasket and its the one that was in the car when I bough it, it was blown when I bought it. I'm just wondering which of the available bore sizes is best 4.060 or another. I want to get a good quality head gasket and i'm trying to figure out what size.

i know this is a old thread, atleast im searching lol

i have a .030 331 and wanted to know the same thing, what is bore gasket is suppost to be used?
the same size bore or bigger, i have heard a 4.1in bore gasket is approperiate from 2 people, and a 4.030 is needed from 2 other people.

i figured the gasket bore being 2 big would cause sealing and blow out issues, and i wrong?

No it won't cause a problem. I have a 331 and use Fel-Pro 1011-2 with out any problems.
