Yah, don't buy the bracket just to keep a useless pulley, take it out completely and just use a different belt. There is an issue with how close the tensioner will get to another part of the belt. There is a simple solution to this that will not require any modification to the car itself, but once I get home I'll upload the pic that shows this.

Can you eliminate the a/c and the smog pump and just get a shorter belt and if so does anyone know the belt size?

Yes I did both at the same time...below is how I routed the belt. A little deviation from stock but it works. The belt sixe was 84 1/4" and it was a tight fit. You may have to play around with belt sizes around that number since eery car isn't the same.

Sorry if you've answered me before, but I've lost the other threads where I've asked this 86, so if you're repeating yourself, I REALLY apologize!

I promise to check this one again to see if you responded so you won't have to say it again.

According to your diagram, you are routing the belt AROUND the tensioner, shouldn't it go UNDER the tensioner?

Anyway, here is my suggestion for belt routing if you want to eliminat the smog pump (the arrows show that it would not affect the direction of the water pump):
