Gauge types

RE: Gauge types
It depends on what gauge your looking to get, (tach, watertemp, oil temp, oil pressure, volt, fuel pressure etc.)
Electrical typically means that you have a sensor on whatever you are trying to monitor, and it "electrically" sends a signal to the gauge. Volt and tach are obvoiusly electric and easy.
Mechanical would mean that the gauge actually does the reading, like a mechanical fuel pressure gauge under the hood is fine, butis not smart inside the car because that would mean you're running fuel lines into you're interior. Same thing with mechanical oil pressure gauge, not cool. I saw my friends entire passanger side floormat covered in oil because his mechanical gauge fitting stripped out and pissed oil inside his car. After that he bought electric (just like factory, i think you can even use the same spot on the engine to tap into for the aftermarket sensor)
I go with autometer because i've never had problems, and their customer service is great.
