Default explorer gt-40 heads

how much do the heads off a 96 explorer need to be milled to have cobra headcombustionchamber size. And the gasket that came of the exploere seamed mighty thickcould that be the differents in cobra and explorercompression. I'm putting these heads on a 85 gt shouldn't they just bolt right on are is there some modifications.

i dont know, im just gonna run them like they were... its 8.8-1 instead of 9.0-1... big deal... if u wanna do it tho, just tell them to make the combustion chambers 62-64cc's... but i wouldnt worry about it, esp w. the flat top pistons in that 85

well see, that's nice and a well known fact except in this case were dealing with an 85gt which has built in valve reliefs already in the pistons. so yes they will bolt up fine ..if you plan on changing cams check ptv to be safe

yup. and WHY did ford do that? anyone.... anyone...

cause the E6SE heads have deeper chambers which means the valves werent sticking so far down into the cylinders.
