Default question about a9l vs a9p with auto

Question if you have a C4 automatic reverse manual valve body on your car with a 2200 stall would a a9l be best or a a9p. This car was orginally a 5speed converted to a auto c4. Just curious. The car runs fine but when you first start it kind of surges for a minute unless you wack it a couple times then it will idle normal.. no tune yet. It has a a9l now in it.[/align]
